
The Programme
Advanced Master of European Studies (A.M.E.S.) is an interdisciplinary graduate program in English language developed by professors of University of Zagreb in cooperation with international partners and sponsored by the Danish government.
The programme is organised by the Faculty of Political Science - University of Zagreb.
The studies are organised as a full-time, in-residence program. Minimum workload per semester is 20 ECTS credits spread over 15 weeks plus 20 ECTS credits for the A.M.E.S. thesis. Total number of student working hours, comprising in-class hours and individual student work, required for the A.M.E.S. degree is 1.800.
Accreditation and Enrolment
The Programme is accredited according to Croatian law. The third cycle of the programme will start in March 2009 following a public announcement.

Requirements
Credits can be earned by signing up for courses, by writing a research paper and by taking a thesis tutorial.
A.M.E.S. students are required to take all 1XX courses, one 2XX course, to write and defend a 10.000 words A.M.E.S. thesis based on research supervised by a professor and to earn a minimum of 60 ECTS credits within the program. A minimum of 20 ECTS credits have to be taken in each semester. Students may also elect to submitt one-credit short paper to earn total of 2 credits, or to take a thesis tutorial.
Students enrolled in the program will have a right to chose any of the postgraduate EU-related courses offered in English at the University of Zagreb. Total of up to 6 credits per semester can be earned at other programs.
Courses are taught by full-time professors from University of Zagreb and visiting professors. All exams will be administered as anonymous, open book or closed book in-class exams and will be graded by two graders. Oral exams can be administered in exceptional circumstances, on demand of a student.
